Charitable Gift Annuities

Make a gift today. Receive fixed income for life. Create a Catholic legacy for the future.

A Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) is a simple way to support the Catholic causes you care about while receiving fixed payments for the rest of your life.

With a minimum gift of $10,000, you enter into an agreement with The Catholic Foundation. In return, you—or you and a spouse—receive fixed payments for life. Your payment rate is determined by your age when the annuity begins and remains fixed for life.

At the end of the annuitant’s lifetime, the remaining charitable portion of the gift is used to establish or benefit an endowment for the Catholic parish, school, ministry, or other eligible Catholic organization you designate.

Key Benefits

  • Fixed income for life for you, or for you and a spouse
  • Payments may be made monthly, quarterly, or annually
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction in the year the annuity is established, subject to applicable tax rules
  • A portion of your annuity payments may be tax-free
  • Gifts of appreciated assets may provide capital-gains tax advantages
  • Create a lasting Catholic legacy through an endowment benefiting the Catholic cause you choose

Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity

Don’t need the income today? A Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity allows you to make your charitable gift now and choose to begin receiving payments at a future date.

Because payments begin later, a deferred CGA will typically provide a higher payment rate than an immediate charitable gift annuity established at the same age.

This can be an attractive option for donors planning for future retirement income while also making a meaningful charitable gift.
